Modding contest has its winners!
UFO: Afterlight lets you take on the inhabitants of Mars in a perfect blend between strategy and tactics. You explore the surface, build mines, research technologies and develop equipment in the strategic view. You recover artifacts, capture enemies, blow up installations and neutralize the opposition in the tactical view. The two parts are closely knit together, and making a bad decision in one can be fatal to the other.
But what if you could do even more? What if a gamer out there has a brilliant idea to expand the game even further? That's what the UFO: Afterlight modding contest was all about!
ALTAR games, Cenega Publishing, IDEA games and StrategyCore announced the contest to modify the game to players' heart's content! Sound or music, the balance of the factions, anything... Read original press release; or updated press release.

First prize
Merlon and his Recolour Mod Mars 1.2 [Download]
This modification lets you modify the color scheme of the game's equipment. There are three sets to choose from, and you can combine them as you see fit.
Second prize
Kret and his UFO: Afterlight Resource Scrambler 1.2 [Download]
This tool lets you randomize the location of resources. This is great for adding variation to the game, making sure that a second game is as different from the first as possible.
Third prize
PetteriB and his Advanced Missions Mod 0.9 [Download]
This modification adds many enhancements to the tactical missions. Also adds the 'Steal object' mission type which was cut from the final release of the game.
Special honour
ShadoWarrior with his team and their Total Rebalance Mod 2.01 [Download]
It adds 69 new items, 15 new technologies and a new training to the game. In addition it tweaks the balance of everything in the game to make it a truly challenging experience.
